The Deutsche Oper Berlin is looking for a part-time (70%) production manager (m/f/d) for the Tischlerei.
starting in August 2026
The Tischlerei is the Deutsche Oper Berlin's interdisciplinary venue. It is home to productions at the intersection of musical theatre, performance, discourse and installation formats. The projects often transcend genre boundaries, collaborate with artists from the independent scene and reflect social developments in the medium of musical theatre.
There is a particular focus on collaboration with international artists and collectives. The Tischlerei is a production venue, but also a host: it invites people in, opens up spaces and brings different communities together. International guest performances and co-productions are an integral part of the programme.
To strengthen the team, we are looking for an experienced production manager who will be responsible for overseeing productions and guest performances in the Tischlerei, working independently and in close coordination with the artistic director, the stage manager and the technical departments.
Responsibilities
- Production management for in-house productions, guest performances and special formats in the Tischlerei
- Supervision of collaborations with various partners in the city
- Organisation and coordination of project-related processes from the conception phase to implementation
- Interface between the artistic team, technology, administration, dramaturgy, scheduling and external partners
- Supervision and organisation of international guest performances
- Support in the planning and implementation of co-productions with international theatres, festivals or independent groups
- Responsibility for budget monitoring and time management in close consultation with the artistic director and various departments of the opera
- Organisation of work and rehearsal processes in-house and, if necessary, on site abroad
- Participation in the further development of work structures and production models in the field of experimental music theatre
Application requirements
- Several years of professional experience in production management - ideally in the field of musical theatre, independent theatre, performance or international festival work
- Knowledge of working with international artists and coordinating guest performances
- Familiarity with technical, organisational and artistic processes in production operations
- Ability to bring together different work cultures, languages and perspectives
- Very good written and spoken English (additional languages are an advantage)
- Confident use of planning and calculation tools
- Independent, structured way of working - combined with strong social and communication skills
- Willingness to work irregular hours (especially evenings and weekends during events)
- Intercultural sensitivity and an anti-discriminatory attitude
We offer
- A responsible position at one of the most exciting venues for experimental music theatre in Germany
- International collaboration with artists and institutions worldwide
- The opportunity to actively contribute to the further development of an innovative venue and additional formats
- Collegial collaboration in an interdisciplinary team
- Remuneration in accordance with NV-Solo
- Access to training courses, exchange formats and opera visits
